This is Esmeralda. She used to be a caramel/ honey color gerbil, but she is a little more than 2 now so she is turning white. We bought her and her 3 babies (Sophie, Geordi, and Data) from the Animal Welfare League after my last 2 gerbils passed away. I wanted two, they had 4. I could not leave the other 2.
I was sitting next to her watching her build their nest. They don't pouch like hamsters, and I did not like their tails in the beginning, but they are very cute to me now. I just bought a new bottle for them too. As you can see in the picture the water level is low due to a small leak. New bottle it is! I just realized many times I talk about my cats and my poor gerbils do not get the front page...
